Why I Started This Site and My Story with Horses

Hi, I’m Hasib. For most people who know me, horses aren’t the first thing that comes to mind, but for over ten years now, they’ve been one of the most consistent parts of my life. Not as a job, not as a business I stumbled into for profit, but as a genuine hobby I’ve never once grown tired of.

It started the way most lifelong obsessions do: almost by accident. Over a decade ago, a simple visit to a stable turned into something I couldn’t shake. What began as curiosity about riding quickly turned into hours spent just watching how horses moved, how they responded to people, how much there was to learn beneath the surface. Within the first year, I was riding regularly. Within a few years, I’d taken the deeper plunge into breeding, learning firsthand how demanding, humbling, and rewarding that process really is. Ten-plus years later, I’m still learning something new every single time I’m around them.

That decade has covered a lot of ground. I’ve ridden more horses than I can count, at every temperament and skill level. I’ve been through the breeding process enough times to understand its rhythms: the waiting, the risks, the small decisions that end up mattering far more than they seem to at the time. I’ve handled the unglamorous daily reality of horse care, feeding schedules, grooming routines, stable upkeep, and learning to spot the early signs of a horse that isn’t quite right before it becomes a real problem. And along the way, I’ve gone through an enormous amount of trial and error with horse products (feed, supplements, tack, equipment), figuring out through direct experience what’s actually worth buying and what’s just clever marketing.

None of this came from a textbook first. It came from years of showing up, getting things wrong, adjusting, and doing it again. I’ve lost horses I shouldn’t have because I didn’t know better early on. I’ve made breeding decisions I’d make differently today. That kind of learning sticks in a way that reading never quite does, and it’s the foundation everything on this site is built on.

Here’s what I kept noticing over these years: solid, practical, experience-based content about horses is surprisingly hard to find. Most of what’s out there falls into one of two buckets. There’s the overly technical, clinical material written for veterinarians and professionals, which is accurate but doesn’t help someone standing in a stable trying to make a decision right now. And then there’s the thin, generic content clearly written by someone who has never actually cared for a horse: recycled advice with no real experience behind it. What’s missing is the middle ground: detailed, tested, straightforward guidance from someone who has actually ridden, bred, and cared for horses for years, not someone repeating what they read somewhere else.

That’s exactly what this site is going to be. Everything I write here comes from something I’ve actually done, not research assembled secondhand. I’ll write about what worked and just as openly about what didn’t, because the failures usually teach more than the wins. When I recommend a product, it’ll be because I’ve used it myself, not because of an affiliate deal. And I’ll always try to give you the practical, specific version of the answer, not a vague generalization that sounds nice but doesn’t actually help.

This site is for anyone who owns a horse, is thinking about it, or is simply drawn to them the way I was over ten years ago, whether you’re picking things up for the first time or you’ve been around horses for years and just want information you can trust.
