This policy explains what information Horsetin collects when you visit horsetin.com and how
we handle it. It is written in plain language rather than legal language. It is a starting
point, not a finished legal document: the site owner should check that every line matches
how the site is actually run, and have it reviewed by a qualified professional where the law
requires that, before treating it as final.
Who we are
Horsetin is written by a hobbyist horse owner of more than ten years, for people who own or
are about to own a horse. We cover the real costs of a first horse, daily care, hoof care
and the farrier, groundwork, reading a horse's behavior, and knowing what normal looks like
so you can tell when it is not. We are not vets, trainers, farriers or nutritionists, and we
say so in the articles as well as here.
What we collect
- Information you send through the contact form. Our Contact page runs a working form.
When you use it we receive the name, email address, subject and message you enter, so we
can reply. Nothing else is collected from that form. - Basic technical information. Our web host records standard details each time a page
is served: the browser and device you used, a general idea of where the request came
from, and which page you viewed. This is ordinary server activity. - Comments. If commenting is turned on and you leave a comment, we keep what you wrote
along with the name and email address you submit with it.
We never ask for anything about your horse's health, your vet or your yard, and please do
not send us documents you would not want stored in an ordinary email inbox.
Analytics and cookies
Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. This site runs a caching plugin
and an SEO plugin, and cookies may be set for basic functions such as page delivery and
remembering a form entry. You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings.
We are not naming an analytics provider here, because we cannot confirm which one is
installed. If the owner adds an analytics tool, an email signup form or an advertising
network, this page should be updated to name it before that tool goes live.
Affiliate links
This site publishes a separate Affiliate Disclosure page, and that page is the place to
read how any commercial link on the site works. In short, some pages may carry affiliate
links, the price you pay is not affected, and a commission never buys a recommendation. The
Affiliate Disclosure page has the full explanation and takes precedence over this summary.
An affiliate link tells a retailer you arrived from this site. That is the only information
that reaches them from us, and we do not receive your name, your address or your payment
details from any purchase you make.
How we use information
- To answer your messages.
- To keep the site running, secure and accurate.
- To understand which horse-keeping questions readers actually arrive with.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the
service providers described below.
Third-party services
The site runs on hosted web infrastructure, the contact form is handled by a form plugin,
and messages reach us through an email provider. These companies handle data on our behalf
under their own privacy practices. The site owner should list the specific providers here
and keep that list current.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask what personal information we hold about
you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us and we will do what we
reasonably can.
Keeping and protecting information
We keep form messages and comments only as long as they are useful for the purpose they were
sent for, and we take reasonable steps to protect them. No website can guarantee perfect
security, so we will not claim to.
Children
This site is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last
reviewed.
